WHAT FLOWERS TO GET FOR OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER CHILD?

October Child

Calendula(Marigold)

The meaning of the October Birth Flower, the Calendula (Marigold) is sorrow or sympathy.

Calendulas grew their name from blooming at the beginning of each month, hence the Latin "calends" and the English "calender". The calendula means "throughout the months". The marigold is an annual flower that blooms well even over a long season. They bloom practically non-stop the entire summer and have few problems.

Meaning of the Flower

The word Cosmos in Greek is translated as orderly, beautiful and ornamental. The fragrance and its vibrant colors give the birthday flower meaning of peacefulness, wholeness and modesty. The typical meaning of the flower is 'love flower'.

The flower is seen as the best way to illustrate ones deepest feelings of love. When sent to one's love on Valentine's day it is simply translated as 'walk with me hand in hand' and 'see life is indeed beautiful'. The chocolate flower meaning when gifted to your loved one means, 'I love you more than anybody can'.

November Child

The term chrysanthemum is adapted from the Greek words chrysos which means gold (its original color) and anthos meaning flower. The oldest variety of chrysanthemum is the Chinese chrysanthemum, which was a daisy-like plant in China. It was cultivated for nearly 2,500 years before it made its way to Europe.

Meaning

Good will, Defense;domestic Happiness; foresight

For the most of us, when we hear the word holly we think of Christmas and winter time. The holly is a plant that is associated with winter time and is something that is used throughout not only the winter season, but especially around Christmas time.

One of the most interesting facts about holly is that sometimes the wood is used to make chess pieces, which is great because the holly is actually a symbol of defense and when you send it to someone or give it to someone it symbolizes that. This is a great use for the holly and a great idea for giving it to people throughout the holiday season.

Poinsettia, is known for its striking red displays at Christmas time. It is often used as a floral Christmas decoration because of its festive colors. Today, in the language of flowers, this December birth flower symbolizes success and good cheer and are said to bring wishes of mirth and celebration.

Poinsettias were prized by the ancient Aztecs (the Mexican Indians) as a symbol of purity. Centuries later, the early Christian of Mexico adopted the plant as their prized Christmas Eve flower. The Mexican poinsettias are usually bright red. By design or accident, poinsettias have become as much a symbol of Christmas as Chrstmas trees and mistletoe. December 12 is National Poinsettia Day.

The Aztecs called the poinsettia Cuetlaxochitl which means “flower with leather petals”. The bracts of the plant was used by them to make a reddish purple dye.
